Industrial Engineering Associate

Summary of Role and Function:
The Industrial Engineering Associate will aid in process improvement efforts with the application of Lean methodology, maintenance of quality tools, and evaluation of resource capabilities through statistical analysis. Additionally, the Industrial Engineering Associate may fill additional roles as needed and directed including, but not limited to, roles such as supporting other QHSE assignments.
Job Description and Key Duties:
Develop and conduct a variety of tests on process capabilities and efficiency studies to identify opportunities of continuous improvement
Monitor the revision of documents in the QMS and ensure new revisions are active on the production phase it affects
Create comprehensive documentation for quality issues and note the corrective actions that were taken
Educate the production team on quality control issues and work with departmental managers to improve overall manufacturing operations and resource capabilities
Advise on the updates of process checklists and departmental forms and templates to enhance the information flow
Monitor and advise on production and quality matters through statistical analysis to ensure operational efficiency and effective quality management
Produce further analysis and reports as may be required by the QHSE Manager
Process internal non-conforming (NCR) processes and customer complaints in the ERP system
Process Corrective and Preventive actions assigned to a non-conformance (NCR) in the ERP system
Other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities:
a. Employee must be responsible for their own Safety.
b. Employee must read and fully understand the latest version of the Electronic Power Design, Inc. Employee Manual available on the PayChex website portal and in the Human Resources office.
c. Monitor customer complaints with respect to quality standards
d. Propose preventive counter-measures to avoid further occurrence of internal and external quality issues
e. Develop and manage process improvement initiatives with the application of Lean manufacturing, A3 methodology, and a dense focus on root cause analysis
f. Analyze the production capabilities and constraints through cycle counts of work-in-progress products
g. Use statistical applications in Excel to plot quality and production data and identify trends of deficiency and improvement opportunities
h. Maintain records of Quality Control key performance indicators.
i. Organize cross-departmental meetings to identify communication issues and to enhance the information flow among departments
j. Aid in process change management by alleviating the transitions of outdated operations to new processes in the matters of resource allocation
k. Conduct time and motion studies and map manufacturing processes
l. Prepare and submit reports to the QHSE Manager
m. Coordinate process efforts on automated NCR notifications generated out of ERP via email.
n. Complete department tasks and responsibilities at a fast and organized pace with occasional unscheduled interruptions or changes in priority.
o. Embody a Team oriented work environment and relationship with other department members in order to collectively reach daily and overall company goals.
p. Maintain a safe and organized work area at all times, and report all potentially hazardous equipment, test setups, conditions, or activities.
q. Must maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
Key Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in math, engineering, or related area; Industrial, Manufacturing, and/or Systems Engineering degree.
Training Certifications:
-Certified on MS Office applications
-Certified in Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
Applicable Experience
1. <1 year of experience in the manufacturing field
2. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (MS Word and PowerPoint)
Required Knowledge
Knowledge of product types related to the company. This includes but is not limited to Electrical Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, Variable Speed Drives, PLC Control Systems, and Industrial Control Panels.
Familiar with quality control tools, Lean methodology, and statistical analysis in Excel; elementary experience with one programming language and/or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) preferred
Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies.
Thorough knowledge of process improvement tools such as value stream mapping and flowcharts; familiarity with Microsoft Visio preferred
