We are working with a fast growing start-up who is reinventing supersonic aircraft from the engineer forward who are seeking a Propulsion Design Engineer to lead structural hardware design from concept through production. This role involves optimizing mechanical systems for manufacturability and reliability, with a focus on propulsion technology.
This would be a fully on-site position in San Francisco and you must be eligible to work in the US.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop CAD models, detailed drawings, and apply GD&T principles
Conduct design trade studies based on material selection, thermal loads, and mechanical criteria
Utilize FEA and hand calculations to assess structural performance under operational conditions
Design and analyze joining methods, including welding, brazing, and fasteners
Develop tooling and fixturing for prototype assembly and testing
Assemble prototypes, draft work instructions, and support testing/debugging
Qualifications:
Proven hands-on experience in mechanical/structural design, preferably in aerospace or propulsion systems
Proficient in FEA tools and CAD modeling, including solid, surface, and sheet metal design
Experience with prototype development from initial design through testing#
