One of the Midwest's largest utility companies is hiring a Senior MuleSoft Engineer for a hybrid, W2 contract role based in Columbus, Ohio. This position focuses on Mulesoft, APIs, and systems integration, and offers the opportunity to join a collaborative, high-impact engineering team at a major energy services organization. The role sits within the Mulesoft platform team and involves designing and implementing scalable, cloud-based integration solutions to support core business functions.
This is a highly technical role that blends hands-on API development with leadership and mentorship opportunities. You’ll be working closely with product, architecture, and engineering teams to optimize performance, ensure scalability, and drive reusable patterns across the organization. W2 Contract Duration: 6 months
Work Environment: Hybrid – Onsite in Columbus, OH every Tuesday and Wednesday

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of engineering experience with languages like Java, C++, C#, or similar
Strong hands-on experience with API design and implementation
Deep expertise in Mulesoft, including solution design, development, and release
Experience with Azure or other cloud-based architectures
Solid understanding of modern and legacy database systems and integration methods
Proven ability to write unit, integration, and performance tests
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems
Background working in Agile or Lean environments
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience mentoring or leading other engineers
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with optimizing technology spend and identifying cost-saving solutions
Prior experience designing internal tooling or frameworks for integration reuse
Track record of managing or executing large-scale transformation initiatives
Experience conducting peer code reviews and implementing best practices
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software applications and API-based integrations
Collaborate with internal teams to build high-performing, scalable tools and systems
Enhance existing APIs and support the evolution of enterprise integration strategies
Lead the implementation of reusable components, standard patterns, and governance
Create technical specifications and documentation for internal teams
Participate in requirements gathering, solution architecture, and backlog grooming
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers on quality and standards
Drive the adoption of platform improvements, automation, and best practices
Troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and support end-to-end delivery
