About REBNY:
The Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) is a not-for-profit trade association that works to protect, improve, and advance the business of real estate in New York City. REBNY has over 15K members and a staff of 50 people, led by an executive team that reports to REBNY’s Board of Governors, which is comprised of the leaders of the New York real estate industry.
Position Overview:
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Human Resources & Legal Assistant to support both the General Counsel and SVP of Human Resources. This dual role offers hands-on experience in HR operations and legal affairs, including recruitment, benefits, compliance, arbitration processes, and member support.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Support
Assist with arbitration and ethics complaint resolution, including scheduling hearings, preparing materials, and drafting determinations
Work with outside counsel and government affairs teams to ensure lobbying compliance with NYC and NYS regulations
Prepare agendas and briefing materials for internal committees, including the Board of Governors, Ethics and Arbitration Committees, and Residential Advisory Boards
Correspond with members and the public regarding the arbitration and complaint processes
HR Support
Assist with the recruitment process, including posting roles, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR platforms
Help organize employee training and events
Answer membership calls and help resolve outstanding REBNY member issues
Provide general administrative assistance and respond to HR-related inquiries
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
1–2 years of experience in HR, legal, or real estate-related fields preferred
Excellent writing, research, and communication skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to interact professionally with internal staff and external members
