The Program Coordinator (PC) plans and coordinates the day-to-day administrative, and operational activities of two academic programs – the Student Academic Success Pathway Program (SSPP) and the Student Summer Research Program (SSRP). The PC will be responsible for managing every aspect of the activities of the two programs. Duties will include assisting the program directors with the oversite and enhancing student support services aimed at promoting student academic achievement and overall well-being. The PC will assist with implementing strategies for academic intervention, mentoring, and student success initiatives, by closely tracking students and coordination the collaboration between the director and the faculty and staff. Key responsibilities include coordinating academic advising, remediation programs, and academic supplemental initiatives, as well as using testing data to track student progress, to submit periodic reports on the performance of the programs. The PC will also work closely with the SSRP directors to coordinate the collaboration with all the partnering research institutions of SSRP, ensuring Student meeting all the deadlines and the program requirements.
The individual must have a proven record of successful teamwork and performing group projects. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and detail oriented organizational skills.
Daily Operations:
Perform day to day administrative duties as it relates to program operation including semester schedules, archives, evaluations, and other duties as assigned by Program Director.
Assist in the preparation of funding, research grants and special projects for the program.
Assist directors in development and organization of interactive study sessions for students enrolled in basic medical science courses.
Monitor the progress and outcome data of the structured review sessions focused on reinforcing key concepts, problem-solving techniques, study strategies and exam taking techniques. Use these data to track students’ progress and prepare periodic reports.
Schedule individualized or small group tutoring sessions to students who require extra help with specific topics with assigned faculty (in collaboration with the directors).
Collect data that monitor and evaluate student progress throughout the semester and communicate feedback report on improvements to students.
Work with the directors to create and distribute supplementary learning resources, such as practice questions, review sheets, concept summaries, and study guides.
Assist in administering pre- and post-session quizzes, surveys, or evaluations to assess student learning and the effectiveness of Supplemental Instruction sessions. Procure and analyze these data to share with students and faculty.
Assist the co-directors of the Student Summer Research Program (SSRP) in managing the students’ required research activities and meeting the key deadlines.
Work closely with the co-directors of SSRP to coordinate the collaboration with the partner research institutions, ensuring Student meeting all the deadlines and the program requirements.
Function as the lead in organizing medical student participation in the school-wide Spring Annual Research Day.
Develop a brochure about Meharry SSRP

Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in education or a bachelor’s degree with more than three years of relevant experience is required. Additional training in program evaluation and instructional delivery will enhance the application.
