The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (WVU), an R1 research institution and AACSB-accredited college, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Entrepreneurship/Strategy. This full-time, tenure-track position is set to begin in August 2026.

Position Description

The successful candidate will:

Deliver high quality instruction of entrepreneurship and/or strategy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Conduct research with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. Applicants for this position are expected to have an established, proven record of publishing their research in high-quality outlets and a plan to continue publishing in such outlets.

Participate in service activities, supporting departmental, college and university initiatives in line with the college’s mission.

This position emphasizes teaching (40%), research (40%) and service (20%).

A doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Management, or a closely related field such as Innovation & Technology Management, Organizational Behavior, Economics, etc. is required. The department is seeking candidates who have already earned a Ph.D. degree (ABD candidates will not be considered at this time).

Must have the ability to teach Entrepreneurship courses.

Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should have an established pipeline of published scholarly research and demonstrated teaching effectiveness.

Applicants at the Associate Professor level must have a sustained record of high-quality publications, effective teaching, and meaningful service consistent with tenure requirements at an institution like WVU.

These qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The John Chambers College of Business and Economics (B&E) was founded in November of 1951 and in 1954, became fully accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. B&E offers a Bachelor of Science in Economics (BSE) and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with nine majors: Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, General Business, Global Supply Chain Management, Hospitality & Tourism, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing.
