As we eagerly grow our innovative solutions in the nuclear energy field, we’re ready to add a Controller to our team! You will play a key leadership role overseeing the company's financial operations, planning & analysis, compliance & reporting, treasury, and tax. Preparing and analyzing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance and guide decision-making.

You will work closely with the CFO, and own all accounting, reporting, and treasury functions for our corporate entity and our portfolio of power-generation project companies. In this role, you will be relied on to ensure robust financial controls, deliver timely insights to project leadership, and support commercial and financing strategies that drive project development success.

Requirements

What you'll do!

Financial Operations: Planning, directing & coordinating all operational accounting functions:

Oversee and manage project accounting functions, including:

Setup, tracking, and reporting of project budgets, costs, and revenue recognition.

Ensure the accurate allocation of project costs, monitor variances against budgets and provide regular financial insights to project managers and leadership to support effective decision making and contractual compliance.

Manage the consolidation of financial data to ensure accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and proper segregation of duties.

Research and document technical accounting issues, draft memos with CPA firms as needed, and advise on accounting guidance updates.

Ensure consistent application of accounting recognition across all entities and in accordance with IFRS (and GAAP at the tax equity partnership).

Prepare, submit, manage, and track monthly invoices.

Ensure that payables are properly recorded and paid timely, properly, and consistently.

Manage final approval and disbursement of employee expense reporting.

Responsible for the delivery of cost-effective and efficient accounting and financial systems, policies and processes that meet the current and future business requirements of the organization.

Liaise with vendors and suppliers, including credit analysis and payment terms.

Oversee accounting and tax service providers, ensuring compliance with all reporting and filing obligations.

Manage audit functions with external auditors.

Perform company level reporting, according to legal, compliance and accounting guidelines and requirements.

Ownership of all payments including project drawdowns, payroll and expenses ensuring appropriate standards of financial governance, control and record keeping.

Financial Planning & Analysis - Oversee and maintain Elementl financial budget and planning process, as well as across all project companies:

Administer and review all financial plans; monitor progress and changes and keep the leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status, including managing cash flow, preparing cash flow forecasting, and reconciling bank and investment accounts.

Oversee and prepare monthly and year-to-date financials with accompanying analysis and disclosures.

Provide ongoing financial analysis to support the development of the company business plan.

Develop, analyze and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the company to assist in management of the business.

Support the preparation of financial performance and other related material for the monthly management reporting, inclusive of reporting requirements to the Board of Directors.

Deliver quarterly and annual compliance obligations for external third-party counterparties

Based on forecasts, anticipate cash flow needs and ensure availability of funds to meet all commitments.

Tax

Perform and review tax related calculations, filings and payments to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax compliance and reporting obligations.

Perform maintenance of tax records and liaison with tax advisors.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including management of internal controls and regulatory compliance.

Work closely with auditors to facilitate annual financial audits.

Treasury

Develop, leverage, and manage relationships with banking/financing partners.

Ensure that Cash management is conducted in compliance with Debt and Equity requirements.

Actively participate in evaluating, negotiating and implementing new banking relationships and in managing banking relationships ensuring the appropriate controls, interfaces and reporting are in place.

What you'll bring!

You have a Bachelors' degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, Masters degree will gain preference.

Experience in the energy sector, specifically power generation and other energy development areas will be an advantage.

A CPA, CMA, or CFA would be beneficial.

You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in finance related roles for a publicly traded or private equity sponsored company, such as VP Finance, senior accountant, financial analyst, or financial controller; with 3-5 years of experience in a managerial role.

ensuring financial reports are accurate, timely, and meet regulatory standards.

securing necessary financing for projects in alignment with corporate goals.

the accuracy of budgeting and forecasting that aligns with company strategy.

You have a deep understanding and proven experience in budget management, forecasting, analysis, financial reporting, business administration and GAAP.

We're open to, and would be interested in, someone who could begin as a contractor and move into a full time role. The base salary range for this role would be $175,000-$225,000, and has a bonus opportunity.
