Job Description

This Solutions Architect will lead the design and alignment of enterprise systems supporting high-visibility programs, including those involving third-party vendors and federal compliance requirements. The primary focus of this role is to architect modern, scalable solutions that replace or integrate with federal legacy systems, driving digital transformation while meeting strict security and regulatory standards. This role combines strategic architectural planning with hands-on solution design. The ideal candidate will bring experience modernizing government or financial systems, and a strong understanding of how to design interoperability between legacy platforms and modern cloud-native services.

Key Responsibilities

Federal System Modernization: Architect solutions that support the replacement and integration of legacy federal systems and simplification of data sets across multiple applications. Design for both near-term functionality and long-term transformation goals.

Enterprise Architecture Design: Develop frameworks that align business objectives with IT infrastructure, data, applications, and security.

Vendor Integration Oversight: Coordinate with vendor architects and technical leads to ensure architectural consistency, compliance, and quality across deliverables.

Solution Design & Cross-Platform Mapping: Produce scalable and secure architecture blueprints, identifying key system interactions, integration points, and dependencies.

Cloud and Application Strategy: Design hybrid cloud and on-prem solutions using APIs, microservices, and secure integration patterns.

Governance and Documentation: Create and maintain architectural artifacts. Ensure compliance with internal and external governance standards.

Strategic Impact: Evaluate total cost of ownership (TCO) and return on investment (ROI) for architecture options. Support business cases for modernization initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement: Present complex architectural ideas clearly to technical and business stakeholders. Align solution design with enterprise and federal regulatory expectations.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

Five to eight years of experience in solution architecture or related field

U.S. Citizenship (required for federal contract eligibility)

Preferred Skills/Experience

Experience modernizing legacy systems and simplifying data sets within federal, financial, or highly regulated environments

Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF), SDLC, and Scaled Agile (SAFe)

Familiarity with legacy technologies (e.g., mainframe, COBOL, DB2) and cloud integration strategies

Experience with Stream TA

Excellent communication, stakeholder alignment, and problem-solving skills

Understanding of compliance and security requirements in federal environments

Location Expectation

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00 - $154,990.00
