As an Electrician, you will provide mastery skills and leadership in the mission critical areas of electrical and electronic maintenance for a raised floor environment. You will perform a variety of activities involving the design, planning, installation, operation and maintenance of sophisticated electric and/or electronic components, equipment, systems facilities and machinery used in the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy for domestic, commercial and industrial consumption to increase quality, efficiency and volume.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Leads all activities associated with the engineering, installation, testing, maintenance of electrical distribution systems and components in a data center environment.
Serves as a lead in the planning, development and implementation of appropriate programs for the inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of electronic communications, data control and monitoring systems in a raised floor environment. Ensures all electrical systems follow the Nationwide Electric Code and all other applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.
Inspects and tests complex electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication and power circuits. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment using testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, or growler. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
Performs sophisticated support activities for electrical distribution systems and equipment in a data center environment.
Performs on-site installation preventive maintenance, repair and calibration.
Leads in the operation of all electrical systems, ensuring 100% uptime.
Acts as the functional specialist in the areas of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), electrical distribution, fire alarm, controls and generator systems. Undertakes sophisticated projects requiring additional specialized knowledge in electrical distribution systems. Handles sophisticated electrical systems and equipment issues.
Participates in the selection and negotiation with outside contractors.
Assists in coordination of staff to ensure a balanced alignment of skills in the electrical and lighting maintenance, installation and repair.
Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Supervisor/Manager. This is an individual contributor role.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Technical/vocational studies with equivalent work experience.
License/Certification/Designation: Certifications in Level I Vibration Analyst and Thermographer, State Electrical License, and State Fire Alarm License is strongly preferred.
Experience: Typically, six or more years of demonstrated experience with electrical power distribution systems/devices and data center equipment.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must have thorough knowledge of electrical codes and principles associated with the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of electrical power distribution systems and any associated components; electronic communication systems, controlling devises and data systems instillations and maintenance techniques; and advanced electrical test equipment. Ability to install, maintain, repair and operate complex electrical distribution systems and devices; solve and test complex electrical circuitry; evaluate and recommend solutions to complex problems associated with electrical systems and equipment; interpret wiring and cable blueprints and schematics; and supervise others in safe work procedures on energized and de-energized electrical load and equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
