Our client is an architect-led construction company that offers design and building services to commercial and industrial buildings. We are looking for an experienced Controller with construction industry experience to join our growth-oriented company.
Responsibilities:
Take ownership of the Timberline GL. (Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate)
Close books timely, prepare monthly journal entries, and perform GL account analyses.
Cash management & weekly forecasting as well as reconciliation of all bank activities in Operating bank account. Work closely with Project Managers to understand the AR for Cash Flow purposes.
Review weekly entries of newly implemented PAYROLL4CONSTRUCTION payroll system, booking the direct labor entry (as well as indirect labor) Taking this new implementation to the next level of 100% paperless, PHONE AP Based.
Ensure that all debt is coded appropriately to amortization schedules, sign off on AP to ensure proper coding to expense., tie out schedules monthly.
Review weekly AP check runs.
Post Cash receipts.
Monthly create pivot table to Job Cost all Amex expenses.
Book monthly Depreciation and monitor Fixed asset Register for VCC and VHC.
Create monthly WIP, work with Project managers to determine % job complete and Costs to Complete. Review with CFO consultant and Book monthly CTC entry.
Ensure Sister companies are properly booked, billed, and funded timely in QuickBooks.
Submit monthly Borrowing Base to Bank.
Act as liaison for annual financial statement audits with outside accountants.
Prepare monthly Sales & Use tax returns for Verdi Construction and Verdi Heavy Civil. Submit ST-50 Quarterly for State of NJ.
Job Costing & job set ups in Timberline.
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Audit Preparation, Insurance Negotiations, AIA Billing, & Quick Bill Invoices for all site work projects.
Working with CPA firm to prepare sales tax and financial statements.
Maintain banking relationships & bonding relationships.
Payroll assistance and support.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Construction Accounting mandatory.
Experience working with Timberline, Sage 300 CRE (would be a plus).
Well versed in generally accepted accounting principles and procedures (GAAP).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, concentration in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP etc.).
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
