Position Summary
The role of the Ministry Leader is to support and assist the Corps Officers in building a healthy Christ-centered community at the Tustin Ranch Corps. The focus of the position is church growth and as such will be heavily focused on community outreach and small group development. This position requires membership in The Salvation Army as a Soldier of the Tustin Ranch Corps.
Essential Functions
Visioning
Support the Corps Officers (pastors) in casting the mission, vision, and direction of the ministry of the Tustin Ranch Salvation Army Corp.
Collaborate with officers in developing a healthy organizational structure to support and fulfill The Salvation Army's mission. Ministry
Lead outreach efforts in our local community to build the congregation of Tustin Ranch.
Develop the Tustin Ranch Rooted and Small group ministry.
Help Officers to shepherd the congregation, equip leaders for ministry, and preach the Bible.
Live and articulate scriptures in a culturally relevant and spiritually effective manner.
Facilitate necessary spiritual/pastoral counseling.
Support visitation and involve former Salvation Army officers in the spiritual nourishment of the Corps.
Mentor upcoming leaders in the congregation.
Raise and promote teams to operate under the Love, Grow, Embrace, and Reach structure. Administration
To ensure mission alignment, the Ministry Leader is co-responsible for the hiring and management of all church staff.
Supervisor Tustin Ranch Ministry team including Generational Pastor, Multimedia Coordinator, Social Services Pastoral Care Leader. Supervision includes but is not limited to taking lead on staff meetings, performance evaluations, and staff development training schedule - follow up to ensure completion.
Oversee, support, and promote spiritual connection between Corps and Salvation Army Social Services.
Lead and promote innovative meetings to assess and promote successful communication between services, sermons, and worship teams.
Along with the Corps officers, the Ministry Leader shall assign the duties of all staff and be responsible for their conduct, affirmation, and discipline as appropriate.
Assist and support the spiritual care ministry when needed including OC Social Services staff
Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of BA degree in Ministry/Education/Leadership or other related subject or minimum of 5 years equivalent experience
Meeting the biblical qualifications of a pastor
Knowledge of Salvation Army theology, mission and practices
Knowledge of conversational Spanish preferred
Leadership skills that balance professionalism with personal humility
Valid CA driver license, able to pass MVR report and safety classes
Experience/working knowledge of Windows (Outlook, Excel, Word) Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Must have good spiritual disciplines including, but not limited to, a private devotional time, commitment to regular worship and giving.
Ability to handle conflict and engage fruitfully with different personalities.
Adaptive problem-solving skills in collaboration with others
Demonstrate ability to motivate and empower both staff and leaders.
Strong time-management practices
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
