Job Summary

The Job Developer is responsible for building and maintaining strong connections within the community to promote Minnesota Independence College and Community (MICC) as a strategic business partner. Primary responsibilities include development of potential employment for participants, effectively communicating with participant stakeholders, and documenting services provided.

Essential Functions

Sourcing paid integrated and competitive employment for our program participants and guiding participants through the job acquisition process

Maintain effective and professional communication with individuals inside and outside of MICC

Facilitate positive relationships with community partners and promote MICC whenever possible

Maintain confidentiality and promote respect for all MICC students, graduates, staff, families, and others

Record student information and evaluate student performance electronically as required

Other duties as assigned Duties & Responsibilities

Business Partnerships

Establish contacts and relationships within local business community for development of employment, internship, and practicum experience opportunities

Develop opportunities for industry experiences including informational interviewing, job shadowing, Q&As, and workplace tours for participants

Participate as a member of community organizations focused on networking and employment for individuals with learning differences and autism, or workforce development and business opportunities (i.e. DEED, Disability:IN, Autism Society of Minnesota, WIOA, local Chamber of Commerce, etc.) Job Placement & Maintenance

Coordinate with Careers team to identify current placement needs and secure appropriate employment for MICC participants

Visit participant employers on at least monthly to ensure accurate communication and problem-solving with employer to assist both employee and employer to have a positive work experience

Provide coaching support, implement teaching tools, assist with transportation mapping, and advocate for reasonable accommodations

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians or families as needed to provide employment updates Training

Provide information about the local labor market and industry requirements

Provide training to local organizations and national affiliates

Support onboarding, training, and coaching for Job Developers Administrative Duties

Track status of participant job acquisition, promotions, and other changes in database

Participate in the tracking and evaluation of job development services including increase in new employer partnerships, goal of employment by graduation, meeting participant employment

Document participant services in case notes and Employment Plans and Service Hours Agreements Requirements

Education & Experience

Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Social Work, or related field preferred

Possess a minimum of 2 years experience in a Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), job placement, or job coaching capacity

Experience as a Job Developer, Employment/Vocational Specialist, or related position, working with individuals with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders is preferred but not required

Familiarity with the Richfield/Bloomington employment market is a plus Skills & Abilities

Demonstrated ability to identify and obtain appropriate employment opportunities for individuals with learning differences and autism spectrum disorders

Excellent people and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote a culture of mutual respect and teamwork

Maintain confidentiality of organizational, employer and participant information

A valid Minnesota driver's license in good standing is required

Paid Time Off (PTO)

176 hours / 22 days (prorated upon start date) of paid vacation time

80 hours / 10 days (accrued at 3.33 hours per pay period) of paid sick time

80 hours / 10 days (holiday schedule available upon request) of paid holidays

Sign-On Bonus Terms

Gross pay of $250 upon hire date (paid on the first paycheck following MICC's payroll schedule)

Gross pay of $250 at 90 days of employment (must be in good standing in order to receive the bonus)

$40,000-$50,000 per year
