Supervisor, Laboratory

Job Summary:

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the technical oversight activities of their specific department(s). The Laboratory Supervisor does not always need to be on site while testing is performed; however, when on site the Laboratory Supervisor will work a technical bench and be available for technical questions as needed. The Laboratory Supervisor will be available to work any shift to cover for unplanned absences. The Laboratory Supervisor provides direct supervision to team leads, technical staff and lab assistants within their department(s). The Laboratory Supervisor will cover as needed supervision of another department.

Minimum Requirements:

Level of education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, or chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution.

Five years of Laboratory training and/or experience with at least 4 years of high complexity testing experience

Must be a MT(ASCP) or MLS certified or be MLT(ASCP) certified with a Bachelor's degree.

Must meet the requirement for Technical Supervisor under CLIA 88

Level of experience

6 years' experience in a hospital laboratory setting.

2 years full-time supervisor experience or equivalent

Prior experience as a lead technologist role.
