We are looking for a highly motivated Safety Manager, who is passionate about the construction process. This person will lead and support safety initiatives across multiple job sites. This role will work out of our Chicago, IL office and will serve as a key resource to ensure compliance with safety regulations, provide field trainings, and foster a culture of safety throughout the construction process in our self-perform Mechnical business. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and collaborative problem-solver who thrives in dynamic field environments.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Establish annual safety goals and define measurable metrics; track progress and provide updates throughout the year.

Lead monthly Safety Champion calls with foremen to review incidents, discuss safety planning, and share lessons learned.

Oversee the Safe Foreman Award Program, tracking completion of toolbox talks, equipment inspections, site planning, and safety call attendance.

Manage, maintain, and schedule training courses for all associate safety certifications (e.g., OSHA10/30, CPR, MEWP, Forklift, Rigging & Signaling, Confined Space, Telehandler, Boom Lifts) in Procore and "Core 4 Trainer" certification with United Rentals.

Partner with the Claims Manager and leadership to ensure proper incident reporting, categorization, investigation, and application of lessons learned.

Develop and maintain a Safety Program Manual tailored to the company's scope of work.

Manage and track safety onboarding for new hires.

Administer PPE program including selection, procurement, training, and usage tracking.

Responsible for managing safety on 15+ construction sites across the U.S., including travel to projects for inspections, incident investigations and to maintain visibility and leadership in the field.

Attend preconstruction meetings to help develop site-specific safety plans for high-risk tasks.

Conduct jobsite safety inspections and develop reports to identify concerns and improve performance.

Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to troubleshoot and resolve site-specific safety issues.

Conduct safety and risk management training in classroom and jobsite settings. NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years' of Safety and Health Experience preferred

Prior Construction Experience is required; HVAC, plumbing, process piping experience considered a plus.

Forklift and MEWP (aerial lifts) instructor training is desirable.

BS in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field

STS, CHST, CSP or similar certification(s) preferred

OSHA 500/510 certification a plus

Possess and maintain a current, valid driver license in your state of residence

Travel to jobsites approximately 2-3 days/week (Monday - Friday) to Construction Project Sites Locally and Nationwide, including outside of standard business hours and out of state travel as required and needed.
