What is my role?

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting, testing, and measuring products and processes to ensure they meet established quality standards and comply with licensor, franchise and customer requirements. This role also supports continuous improvement by documenting findings, identifying trends, and recommending corrective and preventative actions.

What You'll Do

Inspections and Audits

Conduct routine and in-depth quality inspections on direct screen, transfer, and digital print press checks and finished product.

Visual Inspection: Visually assess garments for defects like misaligned prints, color discrepancies, or damage to the fabric, packaging or print.

Color Accuracy: They compare printed colors to the original design or sample, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Print Quality: Inspectors check for issues like smudging, bleeding, dye migration or uneven inkcoverage.

Defect Reporting: Identified defects are documented and reported to the production team for corrective action.

Blank Garment Quality from Suppliers – assist with inbound testing of Blank Garments to ensure compliance with Supplier specs(partial).

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Document inspection findings, maintain detailed reports, and communicate results to cross-functional teams.

Inspection Records: Detailed records of inspections, including any defects found, are maintained.

Document Control - Assist in development of SOP, but accountable for Document Control and Annual Training requirements.

Quality Reports: QC professionals may prepare reports summarizing quality findings and suggesting corrective actions.

Collaboration and Communication:

Collaborate with production, prepress and design teams to ensure consistent quality from pre-production through final output.

Process Monitoring: Monitor production lines, identifying areas for improvement in the printing process.

Training: They can train production staff on quality control procedures.

Data Collection: They collect and analyze data to track quality trends and identify areas for improvement.

Troubleshooting: Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Verification and Compliance:

Monitor and review environmental compliance, including required reporting and documentation.

Customer Specifications: QC ensures that the printed garments adhere to the customer's specifications, including print placement, size, and design.

Production Standards: Monitor production processes to ensure they meet established quality standards and recommend corrective actions.

Licensor, Franchise and Customer Specific Standards: Verify that products comply with relevant license and franchise regulations.

Other Potential Responsibilities:

Assisting Press Operators: They may assist press operators with tasks like setting up prints or troubleshooting problems.

Maintaining Work Area: They are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Collaboration: They work as part of a team with other members of the production department.

What You'll Need

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality control role, preferably within the printed apparel industry.

Knowledge of Apparel Production: Strong knowledge of decorative apparel production methods and quality standards.

Detail Oriented Record-Keeping: Ability to maintain accurate and organized records of inspections and findings (QC Report) with attention to details.

Problem-Solving: Strong attention to detail and capacity to identify and resolve quality issues effectively.

Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Communication: Strong communication skills to report issues, collaborate with production teams, and train others.

Basic Math and Measurement Skills: Ability to measure and calculate dimensions accurately.

Quality Control Procedures: Familiarity with common quality control practices and techniques and be able to understand different levels of AQL.

Tools and Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)

Familiar with Measuring Tools: Calipers, Gauges, Micrometers

Color Measurement Devices: For ensuring accurate color matching
