Job Title: Data Center Technician
Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Data Center Technician to join our team. In this position, you will be responsible for building data cabinets, racking, and stacking hardware within a data center environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience with rack and stack operations and should thrive in a fast-paced, technical setting. This role offers a great opportunity to contribute to impactful projects while gaining valuable experience in the data center industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Rack and Stack: Install servers, switches, routers, and other hardware into server racks and cabinets. Ensure proper cable management and secure equipment in place.
Data Cabinet Setup: Assemble and configure data cabinets, ensuring hardware is positioned and mounted according to safety and organizational standards.
Cable Management: Route, label, and secure cables efficiently to maintain a tidy, organized data center layout.
Equipment Testing: Power on installed equipment, verify proper functionality, and troubleshoot basic issues when necessary.
Data Center Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the data center by monitoring temperature, power, and environmental controls.
Documentation: Accurately document hardware installation, configurations, and any changes to data center setups.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data center rack and stack operations, including hardware installation, cable management, and general data center operations.
Technical Skills: Basic understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and their integration within a data center environment.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs), as well as bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in tight spaces.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on ensuring accurate installation, cable management, and system configuration.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware issues and communicate problems to senior technicians.
Teamwork: Able to work well with other team members, follow instructions from senior technicians and project managers, and collaborate effectively.
Work Environment: Willingness to work in a dynamic, high-energy environment with tight deadlines and performance targets.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a large-scale data center environment.
Familiarity with standard data center racking systems and cabling practices.
Knowledge of basic network equipment (e.g., routers, switches) and server configurations.
