Position: Production Assembler

Location: Empire, MI

Summary of Position:

Cherry Republic’s Production Assembler is responsible for testing, setup, training, and troubleshooting of the automatic packaging line and associated equipment within the Assembled Foods Department. You are at the forefront of getting all of our favorite products ready for the customer!

Summary of Responsibilities:

Set up of equipment to perform daily work orders as determined by the Food Production Manager.

Troubleshooting of equipment challenges within the work cell.

Verifying and maintaining work instructions for all equipment within the Assembly work area.

Assisting on training staff to operate all equipment within the work area with documented training protocol.

First contact with the Production Manager and the Maintenance Manager in the event of a failure/challenge of equipment that cannot be resolved within the work area.

Active, vocal participation with Assembly staff and Team Captain.

Ensuring Continuous Improvement initiatives are gathered and discussed with Production Manager ie: how can we continue to improve process and flow

Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to multitask, work independently and prioritize effectively.

Use of data systems and interpretation of schedules.

Technical ability to learn, operate and troubleshoot equipment within the work cell.

Keen sense of detail. Ability to record and verify equipment setup for optimal performance.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must have the ability to maintain assigned work hours. Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods of time, and have flexibility in job schedule.

Proven self-starter, able to work at a high level of personal accountability.

Must stay organized and transparent with information.

Physically demanding work environment - must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.

Qualifications for the Job: To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty and work as a Team Member. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability you are required to possess.

Education and / or Experience- High school diploma or GED. Experience working in a food environment is preferred but not required.

Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data with good written and verbal skills. Ability to read and understand scales and recipes.

Mathematical Skills- Ability to calculate numbers and patterns when analyzing data.

Reasoning Ability- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to communicate issues accurately and thoroughly to all individuals involved.

Computer / Technical Skills- Troubleshoot equipment failures, work with internal and external maintenance to resolve problems and keep equipment running well.

Physical Requirements: This position requires long periods of standing in a stationary position for more than 50% of the time. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs with frequent bending, lifting, and placing product on conveyor belts, carts, pallets, labeling machine and other large equipment on a frequent basis most common within a food production environment.
