Job Description
A large company specializing in waste management of chemical products is seeking a dedicated Material Handler. The role involves working in a lab/disposal facility to inspect chemical drums and ensure they are correctly placed in dumpsters. Responsibilities include labeling and packaging waste removal drums for transport and verifying shipping labels for correct coding. The position requires significant manual labor, involving both hand and forklift operations.
HAZWOPER certification is needed to be considered for this role.
Responsibilities
Inspect and handle chemical drums, ensuring proper disposal.
Label and package waste removal drums for transportation.
Verify that shipping labels are correctly coded.
Perform manual labor tasks, including moving items by hand and using a forklift.Essential Skills
Experience with drum handling.
24-hour HAZWOPER certification.
Proficiency in operating a forklift.
Familiarity with handling chemicals.Additional Skills & Qualifications
40-hour HAZWOPER certification
Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience.
Inspection experience.

Work Environment
The work environment includes both outdoor and air-conditioned settings. Employees will have access to an ice machine and water, as well as Gatorade mix packets. You will be working around hazardous materials and chemicals, ensuring their safe disposal. The team is small and collaborative. The dress code requires jeans, a work shirt, and metatarsal steel-toed boots. Be prepared for clothing to get dirty, and safety shirts will be provided. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MISSOURI CITY, Texas.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.
