Overall Responsibility:A Roadway Designer 3 supports the project's PM and team through efficient plan production. Must be self-motivated individual that works well independently in a team-oriented environment. Must be able to make independent design suggestions to engineer of
record.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Proficiency in developing roadway & intersection alignments/layouts, right-of-way-plans, and drainage plans.
General understanding of hydrology and drainage design.
Knowledgeable of phased E&SC plans & BMP design.
A firm understanding of GDOT MicroStation and InRoads/ Open Roads standards.
Ability to quickly grasp and apply new design procedures/ordinances.
Ability to coordinate with utility providers for utility relocations.
Efficiently generate cross sections & profiles in MicroStation & InRoads.
Preparation of Signing and Marking Plans.
Preparation of Construction Phasing Plans.
GDOT PDP experience and knowledge of GDOTs PPG and EDG.
Basic surveying knowledge.
Ability to prepare quantities for cost estimates.
Excellent communications and relationship building skills.
Additional duties as assigned.
Experience, Proficiencies, Skills and Certifications:
Ten (10) years of related design experience or a Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year college or university and minimum of six (6) years of related design experience.
Software proficiency: InRoads, MicroStation, OpenRoads, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Schedule, and Excel
