Vision insurance Title: Documentation Specialist, Mid-Senior
Details:
Status: Full-Time, Regular Salary, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0900hrs - 1700hrs EST
Location: On-Site; Aberdeen, MD 21001
Supervisory: No Key Roles/Duties:
Work closely with engineering teams to create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for products and assemblies. This will primarily be performed within our Deltek Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Create, maintain, and update comprehensive technical documentation, including manufacturing processes, engineering specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and detailed work instructions
Develop clear and detailed technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics to support manufacturing, operational, and logistical needs
Create and manage part numbers, maintain revision controls, and handle Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality Assurance (QA), Operations, and Supply Chain, to ensure documentation accuracy and alignment with actual processes
Prepare various documents related to engineering, operations, logistics, and supply chain management, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements
Maintain meticulous records documenting the full engineering and manufacturing lifecycle
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the implementation of industry best practices and regulatory standards, including International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015
Ensure documentation is always audit-ready and meets compliance requirements
Assist in developing training materials or guides based on created documentation
Participate in or facilitate the documentation review and approval workflow
Manage document archiving and retention processes according to company Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience (minimum of 5 years) in technical documentation
+3 years of demonstrated experience in an equivalent or similar role in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management
Demonstrated experience managing ECR/ECN processes and revision control systems
Demonstrated experience using an ERP system and Document Management System (DMS)
Demonstrated experience with ISO 9001:2015 or other industry-specify quality systems
Familiarity with technical drawing and schematic interpretation
Prior supervisory or team lead experience
Maintain highly organized and detailed records
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with configuration management tools or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
Experience working in defense contracting, aerospace, or similar regulated industries.
Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
+6 years of demonstrated experience in an equivalent or similar role
Experience with ERP system, Deltek
Additional coursework or certifications in technical writing, documentation control, or compliance Travel:
Minimal, local travel less than 10% of the year Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a background check and/or security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
No clearance required, but preferred
Compensation: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
