Join our dynamic Community Living team as an Area Coordinator (AC) and lead a vibrant residential community at Brandeis University! In this pivotal role, you will foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while overseeing daily operations, supervising Community Advisors (CAs), and driving community development. You'll work collaboratively with campus partners to promote student engagement, leadership, wellness, and retention while ensuring the effective utilization of residential resources. ACs report directly to an Assistant Director of Community Living.

Primary Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operations of a residential community up to 500 students.

Address student concerns, support roommate conflicts, oversee student staff, coordinating area events, managing facility and public safety issues.

Directly supervises 8-15 Community Advisors (CAs), providing training, support, and ongoing performance evaluations.

Serve in a 24/7 emergency response on-call duty rotation, collaborating with campus partners to address urgent resident concerns, critical incidents, and facility emergencies.

Serve as a Student Conduct Hearing Officer to adjudicate alleged policy violations while educating students on their Rights and Responsibilities. Complete Hearing Officer training and engage in regular meetings with the Office of Student Rights and Community Standards to uphold fair and consistent practices.

Serving on departmental and institutional-wide committees and supporting special projects, including CA Recruitment and Selection, CA Training, and Housing Operations.

Actively participate in staff and supervision meetings, as well as department and division-wide professional development training.

Salary Range:$46,000-$48,000

This is a live-on position that includes a 2-3 bedroom furnished apartment, partial meal stipend, free on-campus parking, laundry facilities, and access to athletic facilities.

Position Requirements: A bachelor's degree is required (master's degree preferred) and 1-3 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, supervision, problem-solving, time management, and counseling. Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected, and previous experience as a live-on residence life staff member is preferred. Background Check is required.

Physical Considerations: The Area Coordinator (AC) will occasionally ascend and descend stairs in residential buildings, respond in person to emergency incidents, and move between campus locations as needed. The AC is expected to consistently communicate with others to exchange information while managing daily operations and supporting students.
