Mechanical Technician Contract 40 hours weekly 8+ months 100% onsite, US Citizen Only Unclassified Our client is focused on delivering National Defense capabilities by driving mission-focused strategies to develop advanced technology systems enabling enduring products and solutions focused on achieving the customer vision.We are seeking a Mechanical Technician to support the design, development, and implementation of novel undersea sensors.

As an experienced mechanical technician, you will be expected to leverage your skills to assemble, evaluate/test, and maintain electro-mechanical sensors and equipment.

You will provide feedback to the design team to help improve the assembly and maintenance of the systems, as well as aid in trouble shooting and addressing any issues the system may encounter.

To be successful as a Mechanical Technician, you will be required to read mechanical system design plans and assembly instructions, build high quality hardware consistently, and recommend improvements, as well as calibrate instruments, and diagnose faulty equipment.

What you will do: · Under guidance from staff, support development of innovative undersea sensors · Construct and fabricate parts such as underwater deployment mechanisms and large sensor networks in compliance with specifications.

· Assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electro-mechanical systems.

You will apply your skills in areas such as, but not limited to: o Assemble various mechanical test fixtures o Mixing and applying epoxies to form waterproof connectors o Participating in off-site test events at regional lakes o Mechanical fit checks and modifications o Maintaining and organizing on-site tools o Fastener torquing and staking · Develop and implement maintenance plans for the fabricated hardware · Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment · Read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, and schematics · Create, modify, follow, and complete processes, documentation, build travelers, and service records · Order, track, and maintain inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment you are responsible for · Support and/or train coworkers on the safe and efficient use of mechanical machinery and equipment · Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work spaces Who you are: · 2-year mechanical, technical, or related degree, or equivalent experience · Minimum 2 years of demonstrated experience assembling, installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing prototype R&D systems · Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent organizational and time management abilities · Experience interfacing and communicating with Engineers and Scientists · Familiarity with tools and parts used in assembly and test of electro-mechanical hardware, including but not limited to: o Power tools (drills, saws, etc.) o Fasteners and epoxies o Documentation systems such as PDM · Experience with 3D printing and/or 2-part epoxy/potting compounds is preferred
