Primary Talent Partners has a 5-month contract opening for a Laboratory Technician to join a biotechnology company for an onsite position operating out of San Diego, CA.

Pay: $24/hr Contract: 6 months, extensions likely, conversion possible Type: W-2, cannot support C2C or provide visa sponsorship Location: San Diego, CA (100% onsite) Shift: Sunday – Thursday, 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM Job Description: The Technician II (Formulation) formulates custom oligonucleotides according to customer specifications, including quantification, final packaging, and QC sampling.

This role involves working with both automated and manual lab equipment, utilizing custom software, and ensuring quality and safety compliance.

The technician must meet daily shipping deadlines and contribute to continuous process improvement while adhering to SOPs and safety standards.

Responsibilities: Formulate custom oligonucleotides using both manual and automated equipment Quantify and sample oligos for quality control tests Assess QC data to make accurate pass/fail decisions Translate customer orders into lab processes using stoichiometry Maintain daily ship deadlines for all products Maximize automation and adapt to new processes and products Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment Use proprietary software packages to complete tasks and generate final product documentation Ensure compliance with lab safety regulations and SOPs Demonstrate alignment with company core values Perform other related duties as assigned Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred Skills/Experience Required: 1–2 years of previous laboratory experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks Ability to make decisions independently outside of SOPs Experience working in fast-paced or high-pressure lab environments Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team Strong time management and communication skills Nice to Haves: Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field Experience with automated lab systems or custom oligo production Familiarity with stoichiometry and lab unit conversions Physical Requirements: Ability to exert 20–50 lbs of force occasionally and/or 10–15 lbs frequently Primary Talent Partners is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
