ALTA IT has a Long Time Contract Positions open for a Physical Security Architect Onsite – Springfield, VA or Tysons Corner, VA US Citizenship is required – Need to get a Public Trust We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Security Architect to support the design, installation, and operation of physical security systems across our facilities.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a broad range of intrusion detection technologies, including CCTV, access control systems, biometric authentication, and ID badge readers.
In addition to technical implementation, this role requires expertise in developing system design requirements and creating detailed facility security drawings using AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop Physical Security Architectures and review of existing solutions • Use AutoCAD or equivalent to create and maintain facility drawings and system schematics: o Floor plans with device placement o Wiring diagrams and riser diagrams o Equipment rack layouts and cabinet space • Include design narratives, bill of materials (BOM), and installation specs.
• Install, configure, and maintain physical security systems, including: Intrusion detection devices CCTV surveillance systems Access control systems ID badge readers • Develop and document security system design requirements for new and existing facilities • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure security systems meet operational and compliance requirements • Conduct site surveys and security assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities • Ensure systems comply with relevant physical security standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, FIPS, UL, ISO/IEC standards) • Maintain detailed records of installations, configurations, and system changes Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience • 10+ years of experience in physical security system installation and operation • Proficiency in AutoCAD for producing detailed facility and system design drawings • Hands-on experience with intrusion detection systems, CCTV, access control, and biometric systems • Strong understanding of physical security best practices and threat mitigation strategies Preferred: • Certifications such as PSP (Physical Security Professional), CPP (Certified Protection Professional), or similar • Familiarity with federal or industry-specific security regulations and compliance requirements • Experience working in secure or high-sensitivity environments (e.g., data centers, government facilities) Additional Skills: • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Excellent communication and documentation skills • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams #M2
