TITLE: IT Specialist

DIVISION: Organizational Operations

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Organizational Operations

LOCATION: Lewistown, MT

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

GROUP: Core

HOURS: Part-time, averaging 32 hours per week

JOB PURPOSE: The IT specialist provides basic technical support, maintains American Prairie’s IT infrastructure, and ensures hardware, software, networks, and systems operate smoothly and are set up to meet the needs of end users. This role serves as a key internal resource for day-to-day IT needs while acting as a bridge to external contractors and

service providers for more complex or specialized issues.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

Technical Support (60%)

Provide technical assistance to staff by resolving basic hardware, software, and network issues in a timely and effective manner.

With support from external IT contractors, complete higher-level and more complex IT troubleshooting.

Serve as the primary liaison to American Prairie’s IT contractors.

Provide basic IT training to employees and assist with onboarding new staff by setting up their IT accounts and equipment.

Work with end users to set up and configure software to be most useful for their needs.

Monitor system performance and troubleshoot basic network or server issues

Systems and Infrastructure Administration (30%)

Close out accounts and collect devices from departing employees.

Act as the primary administrator including managing user accounts and permissions for various software programs including Google, Box, Wrike, ESRI, Dashlane, and Verizon OneTalk.

Ensure compliance with American Prairie’s policies, insurance requirements, regulations, and best practices regarding IT security and data protection.

Ensure the implementation of security protocols including password management, antivirus software, regular cyber security training, and periodic cyber security audits.

Documentation and Asset Management (10%)

Manage the procurement, inventory, and setup of IT equipment such as computers, printers, and mobile devices. Coordinate regular maintenance and upgrades.

Maintain clear and accurate documentation for all IT procedures, system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and inventories.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

2-5+ years of experience in IT support or a similar role

Familiarity with Apple products including iPhones and MacBooks

Experience with basic networking concepts

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff and provide training when necessary

Strong organizational and time-management skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Comfortable coordinating with external vendors and service providers

Strong attention to detail to avoid errors in system configurations and documentation

Proficiency with standard software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

Knowledge of how to maintain and troubleshoot computers, printers, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment

Experience with IT security best practices

Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing high-quality service and support to end users

Preferred

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Experience coordinating IT projects.

Experience with object-oriented coding languages

Willingness to learn about and/or attend training on other systems, including A/V systems and BrightSign
