InterBel Telephone Cooperative, Inc. is looking for a new Network Engineering Manager to join our small, but dynamic and community-minded team! We are working to build the fiber network of the future and currently serve the greater Tobacco & Flathead valley areas. Our headquarters is based in the beautiful Eureka, MT and this position will be expected to reside within 60 miles of Eureka, with in-person work required.

Overview

The Network Engineering Manager for Fiber Telecommunications is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure for fiber-optic telecommunications systems. This role involves leading a team of engineers, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring the network operates efficiently and reliably. This position also supervises inspection of work orders, contract engineers, contract construction and any other duties as deemed necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.

Network Design: Oversee the design and architecture of fiber-optic networks, ensuring they meet the company's standards and strategic objectives.

Implementation: Manage the deployment of network infrastructure, including the installation of fiber-optic cables, network nodes, and related hardware.

Maintenance: Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure the network remains operational and any issues are promptly addressed.

Quality Assurance: Ensure that all network installations and modifications adhere to quality and performance standards.

Project Management: Plan and oversee network projects in coordination with the Project Manager, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.

Vendor Coordination: Work with the Warehouse Coordinator to procure necessary equipment and services, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness.

Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and support to resolve complex network issues and improve overall performance.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to continually improve and optimize network infrastructure.

Compliance: Ensure network operations comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in fiber-optic network design, implementation, and maintenance. Knowledge of related technologies and protocols.

Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Project Management: Experience in managing large-scale network projects, including budgeting and resource allocation.

Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex network issues.

Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Fiber Optic Association Certification, or equivalent preferred.
