The Role

We are looking for a Product Manager to lead our flagship GitKraken Desktop product - a cross-platform Git client used by millions of developers worldwide. This is a technical product role requiring either direct experience with developer workflows, Git, and version control systems, or a passion for quickly learning these technical domains. As the primary PM for GitKraken Desktop, you'll have significant autonomy to shape both the product direction and user experience while driving business outcomes.

You'll work closely with a dedicated Engineering team and designer to simplify complex Git operations and enhance development workflows for our users. Success in this role means understanding developer pain points and translating them into innovative solutions - you don't need to be a developer yourself, but you should be comfortable in technical conversations and excited to learn. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge fields, including developer tooling and AI integration, positioning you at the intersection of two rapidly evolving technology domains.

What you'll do

Work closely with our Sr. Director of Product to take end-to-end responsibility for our GitKraken Desktop product

Partner with engineering to rapidly prototype solutions, balancing user research with data-driven decisions

Create comprehensive specifications, wireframes, and user stories that guide feature development

Lead cross-functional initiatives to drive successful product launches and feature releases

Analyze product metrics and conduct user research to validate opportunities and inform priorities

Identify opportunities to leverage AI and integrate with our broader DevEx platform (including GitLens, GitKraken.dev, CLI, and Browser Extension)

Generate alignment and buy-in across Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Success teams

What youll bring

Proven experience in product management, with experience leading the end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to launch

An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and solve problems creatively

Strong analytical skills and a data-informed approach to decision making

Excellent communication abilities, both in technical discussions and cross-functional contexts

A genuine curiosity about developer workflows and technology trends

Ability to balance user needs with business objectives

Experience conducting user research and translating insights into product features

Bonus points

Software development experience or product management within the developer tooling space

Understanding of Git, version control systems, or development workflows

Experience with AI-assisted development tools or workflows

Track record of growing product adoption and engagement metrics

Location

This is a hybrid position based in Scottsdale, AZ. This role combines the flexibility of remote work with the benefits of meaningful in-person collaboration. Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Phoenix area.
