The Functional Business Partnerships Communications manager will lead a team of geographically dispersed employees responsible for telling the story of our key campaigns across our major functions. She or he must develop knowledge of the sector’s products, technology, culture and employee base. The position is a highly visible presence within the company with a vital role in executing an integrated communications strategy across the functions within BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems sector. A trusted consultant to senior leadership, the business partnerships communications manager must collaborate with the rest of the Executive Communications team. They must also continuously implement communications best practices across the group.

This individual will:

Work with functional business partners to develop measurable communication plans for key technologies in support of the brand, strategy and business and growth objectives.

Work with Executive and Business Area communications to develop executive communications strategies for the function’s vice presidents.

Partner with stakeholders across the Communications function to position BAE Systems as a market leader, maximize positive exposure, achieve brand and product awareness, increase trust in leadership and strengthen employee engagement.

Provide strategic communications counsel and guidance to senior leadership.

Ensure a coordinated communications approach amplifying our voice across multiple channels.

Manage, mentor, develop and retain talent. Take action and make decisions regarding personnel matters. Ensure the team is aligned to deliver maximum impact.

Develop, maintain and report out on metrics to demonstrate investment impact.

Collaborate with other sectors or headquarters teams on strategic campaigns.

Monitor the competitive environment to proactively identify trends and potential issues for sector and communications leaders and teams. Recommend and support solutions.

Enhance the brand – ensuring adherence to corporate branding and identity guidelines.

Align to the sector’s cultural principles and model safe and ethical behavior.

Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Because this role involves a combination of independent and collaborative work, this position can be conducted 100% remotely.

Required Skills and Education

Education & Experience:

B.S. degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or similar

At least 10 years of experience in a communications discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

Required Skills:

Often acts independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with long-range goals and objectives.

Demonstrated project management and leadership abilities.

In-depth knowledge of modern communications tactics, media, procedures and concepts.

Travel is required and may be up to 15%.

Preferred Skills and Education

Defense or high-tech industry experience preferred.
