The Accounting Manager will coordinate the financial accounting and reporting activities for all U.S. and Central American operations. This role is key in ensuring timely and accurate financial data consolidation and reporting, developing corporate accounting policies, managing internal controls, and supporting tax planning. This position will also be involved in operational tasks and assist with the financial implications of the company’s expansion. Some travel will be required.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

• Lead, mentor, and supervise the accounting team across multiple office locations, including the U.S. and Central America.

• Foster a collaborative, high-performing accounting team through training, support, and performance management.

• Coordinate and conduct interviews, onboarding, and development of new accounting staff.

• Promote consistency in accounting practices across all Port to Port offices.

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

• Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and local accounting standards in each country of operation.

• Consolidate financial reports across multiple entities and currencies.

• Maintain accurate and timely general ledger entries and reconciliation.

Internal Controls & Policies

• Design, implement, and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets.

• Ensure audit readiness across all entities by maintaining proper documentation and reconciliations.

• Serve as the point of contact for external auditors and tax consultants.

Tax Compliance & Planning

• Support domestic and international tax planning strategies.

• Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state tax regulations and contribute to tax compliance in Central America (knowledge of local regulations in Honduras or Salvador is a plus).

• Assist in coordinating timely filing of corporate tax returns in all jurisdictions.

Operational & Strategic Support

• Provide financial analysis to support business decisions, pricing strategies, and operational improvements.

• Collaborate with department heads to forecast budgets and control expenses.

• Support the financial infrastructure required for the company’s growth and expansion plans.

• Coordinate intercompany transactions and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation.

Systems & Process Optimization

• Evaluate and recommend accounting systems and process improvements.

• Ensure effective use of accounting software and tools for data accuracy and efficiency.

• Monitor compliance with company accounting policies and update them as needed.

Financial Analysis & Decision Support

• Conduct in-depth financial analysis to guide pricing strategies, capital investments, and vendor contract negotiations.

• Present short- and long-term financial goals, KPIs, and strategic recommendations to executive management.

• Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliation across multiple domestic and international entities to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Operational Support

• Partner with operations, logistics, and leadership teams to align financial planning with strategic business goals and growth initiatives.

• Support operational efficiency and expansion efforts by providing financial insights and process improvement recommendations.Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration (required).

5+ years of experience in accounting, with prior management experience.

CPA designation (required).

Proficiency in U.S. and international accounting/tax software.

Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.

Excellent time management, leadership, and communication skills.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in international logistics or maritime finance. (is a Plus)

• Familiarity with inter-company and multi-currency accounting.

• Knowledge of Central American tax and compliance regulations. (is a Plus)
