Service encompasses all aspects of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indian’s governmental operations. Every employee shares the responsibility to provide exemplary service, dignity, and respect to all Tribal Citizens, the Tribal Council, and staff members. To this end, all employees have an obligation to identify and report any service problems, issues, or concerns and through designated channels, initiate, recommend, and actively participate in solutions.

Position Summary: Assist with and coordinate work activities of Cleaning Services staff to ensure the clean and orderly condition of all facilities and buildings.

Essential Functions:

Assist supervisor with the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, coaching, and development of Cleaning Services staff. Assist with planning, assigning, and directing work; providing timely feedback, appraising performance.

Provide team leadership in all areas of Cleaning Services, policies, and programs.

Plan and prepare employee work schedules and coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that Cleaning Services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.

Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.

Perform or assist with Cleaning Services staff duties.

Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required.

Check and maintain equipment and vehicles to ensure good working order.

Monitor and maintain cleaning supply inventory levels.

Train Cleaning Services staff on the proper cleaning methods and procedures and the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and handling and disposal of sharp medical equipment for the sharps container program.

Assist with designated Cleaning Services contact person for all off-hour and emergency Cleaning Service’s needs.

Maintain a safe workplace; monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.

Work collaboratively with Department teams (both in the Housing and Facilities Department and other Departments) to ensure services are provided and the highest levels of service are maintained.

Non-Essential Functions:

Attend various Tribal events to maintain facilities during events.

Perform other related functions as assigned.

Equipment:

Systems used: MS Office applications, Internet, ADP

Floor polishers, floor scrubbers, floor strippers, vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacuum

Uniform required.

Protective gear requirements when handling chemicals.

Position Requirements:

High School diploma or GED required.

Minimum of one (1) year custodial experience required.

Proficiency with MS Office Applications required.

Minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience and/or successful completion of a leadership program.

Pokagon Band Preference Code applies.

Physical Requirements:

Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment.

Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl.

Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and push/pull heavier equipment.

Work environment:

General office environment. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Chemical verbiage.

Local travel is necessary, so the ability to travel as needed is required.
