JOB SUMMARY
The Application Engineer drives the commercial process, working in conjunction with the sales teams to sell custom engineered to order type product(s). Application Engineers learn to identify commercial and technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Experience:
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction
Understands needs in the market by visiting customers
Understands customer needs and develops solution for those needs
Works together with Sales, Order Handling & Project Management to ensure improving/ongoing customer satisfaction
Host customers during onsite visits, inclusive of tours, meals, product technical reviews and commercial negotiations
Product Excellence:
Develop and present product and product training material
Assists in the definition and communication of the value proposition of the product, to the customer
Define and communicate product value propositions
Provide product, application and technical support to the Sales Team
Commercial Results:
Create demand through technical promotion, providing solutions and value selling
Collaborate, develop and implement plans to meet commercial objectives
Drives achievement of orders & profitability targets in collaboration with sales team
Prepare complete, accurate, on-time proposals leveraging a competitive solution, addressing customer needs, while outperforming competition
Issue proposals to customers and supports commercial and technical inquiries
Prepares accurate cost estimates to support proposals

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
Preferred Education / Experience
§ 3-5 years of customer facing roles
Up to 5 years of results-oriented experience in marketing and/or sales environment
Strong knowledge of the electric power industry
Bidding/proposal preparation experience
SAP Experience
