Production Scheduler

Demonstrates commitment to safety and performs job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.

Demonstrates commitment to quality and performs job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines.

Should be aware of their responsibilities and their accountability is clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems.

Review individual orders to determine the best method of producing the job.

Convert sales orders/planned orders in SAP to production orders for all orders as needed.

Be proficient in SAP to convert production orders effectively and accurately.

Make sure all information and special instructions that are necessary to produce the job efficiently and without errors are on the job ticket.

Document and communicate to customer service any discrepancies between specifications as quoted and actual specifications.

Review common products to insure the best and most consistent method of production.

Review orders that have challenging due dates to determine the best method of manufacture.

Make periodic tours of the plant to visually check and review jobs being produced.

Work closely with Customer Service and estimating personnel in the technical aspects of printing.

Be available to work directly with customers when the need arises.

Pursue self-development to improve job performance and prepare for future opportunities.

Provide backup for other team members as required, which include ordering supplies, unloading trucks, loading trucks.

Plan and process assigned materials and supplies requirements from MRP or other requirement notification methods, with preselected vendors, meeting scheduling/ production delivery requirement and matching or exceeding customer expectations.

Communicate and document to Logistics/Purchasing Manager all current and potential supplier issues involving assigned materials.

Process claims on rejected or damaged material and/or supplies with appropriate suppliers.

Substitute sheet material per set guidelines established.

Maintain and Control value of inventory and aged inventory for assigned material and supplies. Actively participate in the sale, disposal, or consumption of aged material.

Critical decision-making process to maximize profits and minimize inventory.

Actively participate in cycle counts and the division physical inventory process.

Assist shipping when needed – wrapping, loading/unloading trucks.

Communicate effectively with all internal/external customers and external suppliers.

Be proactive in the improvement of departmental processes, lowering overall costs.

Provide support for purchasing department projects.

Generate required monthly reports for Purchasing/Logistics Manager.

Provide support on anything needed in the office/plant.

Maintain a master schedule of manufacturing operations and provide an update for machine work centers daily or as needed throughout the day.

Increase the throughput in manufacturing by efficient scheduling, taking into account like sizes, colors, stocks, etc.

Track and monitor status of all components required to produce a job (i.e.: stock, ink, dies, plates, etc.) and ensure components are available when the job is scheduled to run.

Coordinate customer OKs with customer service representatives and department personnel.

Keep customer service representatives informed of the status of their orders, especially changes in the status.

Help determine overtime requirements and report them to the Director of Operations.

Recommend procedures to enhance the scheduling system.

Prepare information for and participate in daily production meeting.

Coordinate outside services, communicate workflow in and out of facility with parties involved, and prepare related purchase orders accordingly.

Actively participates in Lean manufacturing initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Other Requirements (education, experience, skills/knowledge)

Understanding of MRP system

Printing/manufacturing knowledge preferred.

1-3 years’ experience in a similar position preferred.

Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions.

Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Office

Positive attitude and mechanical aptitude.

Ability to carry out instructions.
