The Tool Room Supervisor reports to the R & D Manager and is responsible for overseeing the tool room operations, ensuring the efficient and effective management of tooling inventory, maintenance, and repair activities.
Duties/Responsibilities
Follow Current Tool shop procedure / system for IATF requirement.
Die assembly / disassembly planning on daily basis.
Check die availability & readiness on daily basis.
Send die to vendor for repair & communicate changes.
Keep track & document all changes for repairing dies.
Modifying tool as required for production.
Keep Tool life tracking sheet updated.
Adopt new CMMS system for tool order.
Training of Tool shop Manpower.
Tool spare part management.
SAP knowledge
Die steel machining knowledge.
Knowledge of 3D GOM /FARO scanning
5S knowledge of Tool shop.
Availability for weekends if required for production
Kaizens for tool repetitive issues.
Monitor downtime due to tooling & implement corrective actions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in operating and maintaining various types of tooling and machining equipment.
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling design, and materials.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming is a plus.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to diagnose and resolve tooling issues efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in noisy environments.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
Work is typically performed in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to heat, noise, and other hazards associated with forging operations.
