We cultivate an inclusive culture and invite diverse, talented individuals to join us in shaping the future of eye care.

As a Technician III, Production Maintenance, you will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the on-shift Production Maintenance Team. This role also involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing product contact equipment to ensure compliance with HSE, quality, and productivity standards, in alignment with Alcon's guidelines for an effective equipment maintenance program.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Govern the in-house escalation process for on-shift mechanical activities to ensure timely and effective issue resolution.

Mentor and upskill team members in electro-mechanical knowledge related to Compounding, Filling, and Packaging equipment/systems. Coordinate mentorship efforts to minimize variation and noise in shift activities.

Own and guide spare parts requirements for primary equipment areas (Compounding, Filling, Packaging). Apply the bathtub curve reliability model to assess early, constant, and wear-out failures, aligning spare parts stock levels with preventive maintenance (PM) effectiveness.

Support the Maintenance Lead in developing annual maintenance budget forecasts to ensure accurate financial planning.

Perform basic temperature (TT) and pressure (PT) calibrations on Compounding reactors, mix tanks, and Filling transfer lines/equipment.

Assist in daily production support tasks such as bottle/carton format changes, applying SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) best practices to meet product quality and output goals.

Comply strictly with GMP and GDP requirements, including adherence to SOPs, PMs, and CMs. Promptly report any discrepancies or deviations.

Provide clear technical guidance, both verbal and written, in support of Documented Corrective Trends (DCTs) and Non-Conformance Investigations (NCIs). Ensure timely completion of corrective actions and CAPAs.

Take full ownership and accountability for personal and team compliance with all safety protocols, while identifying and driving safety improvement opportunities.

Coordinate and oversee contractors/vendors during maintenance and equipment improvement activities. Conduct pre- and post-engagement reviews as required by Supervision.

Deliver in-house technical support during commissioning activities for existing, new, or retrofitted plant equipment.

Lead and maintain 5S initiatives and support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects using system trend analysis where applicable.

Be available and willing to work overtime as needed; Lead Mechanic presence is preferred during all overtime hours. This role operates on a rotating three-shift pattern.

Maintain effective communication with key stakeholders (e.g., Compounding, Filling, Packaging, HSE) to ensure quality maintenance services are delivered.

Provide clear verbal updates during shift handovers, tier meetings, and maintain accountability for all on-shift mechanical activities, including equipment downtime.

Oversee shift documentation and lead the development, review, and improvement of job aids and one-point lessons for Process and Packaging equipment.

Ensure incoming inspection of medium- and low-risk Controlled Supply Items (CSIs), including review of material certificates, CoCs/CoAs, and usage approval in GMP environments as per SQA guidance.

Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervision.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

Higher Nitec, Nitec, or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline within pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical processing, particularly in equipment maintenance. Familiarity with Maximo, as well as experience in electrical, instrumentation, mechanical control systems, calibration, and validation, will be advantageous.
