Director, Quality Control
Location; Irvine, CA (Onsite position primarily. One day work from home a week based on workload.)
JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a dynamic leader to head our client's Quality Control operations - someone who can inspire teams, drive innovation, and champion quality at every turn.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day guidance to two experienced supervisors and oversee a broader team of up to 25 individuals.
Play a key role in steering strategic quality initiatives and cross-functional projects.
Shape and refine analytical testing methods for raw materials, in-process checkpoints, and finished goods, ensuring compliance with GMP and SHE standards.
Operational Responsibilities:
Direct testing workflows across chemistry and microbiology labs, partnering with QA, MS&T, and Engineering to solidify release specifications.
Detect quality and process challenges early, propose practical solutions, and implement improvements to elevate QC performance.
Manage the stability program, oversee LIMS data integrity, maintain availability of stability chambers/incubators, and support cleaning validation efforts and regulatory submissions.
Lead functional lab teams—microbiology, chemistry, and raw materials—while driving talent development, recruitment strategies, and smart resource planning.
Present quality KPIs to senior leaders and collaborate closely with site and global teams to align workflows, enhance operational efficiency, and standardize processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong foundation in Chemistry and Microbiology; CDMO experience is a definite advantage.
Hands-on experience working with FDA and ISO bodies, including successful audit participation.
Proven leadership in team development and mentorship.
Clear, confident communicator - adept at presenting QC data to clients and ensuring ongoing GMP compliance in regulated industries.
In-depth knowledge of analytical testing, stability program design, and quality control methodologies.
Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a focus on operational excellence.
Adaptable and organized, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-evolving environment.
