Class A CDL Driver – Dawson Lumber Co.

Location: Georgetown, SC

Reports To: Dispatch Manager / General Manager

Overview:

Dawson Lumber Co. is seeking a reliable and professional Class A CDL Driver to join our delivery team. The ideal candidate will safely transport lumber and building materials to job sites, ensuring prompt and courteous customer service while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

· Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles, including flatbeds and Moffett-equipped trucks

· Deliver lumber, windows, doors, and building materials to residential and commercial job sites in a timely and safe manner

· Interact professionally with contractors, builders, and homeowners; resolve delivery concerns courteously

· Assist with loading materials and verify loads against delivery documentation

· Properly secure all loads in accordance with DOT and company standards

· Maintain accurate delivery records, collect payments when required, and obtain customer signatures

· Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs

· Comply with all state and federal DOT regulations and Dawson Lumber safety policies

· Take photos of delivered materials for proof-of-delivery documentation

· Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

· Valid Class A CDL and clean driving record

· At least 1 year of CDL driving experience, preferably with flatbed or building material deliveries

· Familiarity with local routes and strong navigational skills (GPS/app and manual)

· Ability to operate a forklift, Moffett, or other truck-mounted equipment (or willingness to train)

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to punctuality

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy loads (up to 100 lbs)

· Prolonged periods of driving, standing, and walking

· Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing in/out of trucks

· Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience in the lumber or building supply industry

· Forklift or Moffett certification

· Knowledge of construction job site delivery practices

· Basic knowledge of building materials
