Since 1974, Shermco has emerged as North America's largest and fastest-growing NETA-accredited electrical testing organization. Our primary goal is to ensure that electrical power systems operate safely and efficiently. Our diverse offerings—including the Professional Engineering Group, Rotating Machinery Division, Renewable Energy Services, and local Repair Service Centers—position us as experts in all electrical matters, with a strong commitment to safety and exceptional client service. With our rapid growth and respected industry presence, it’s an exciting time to join our team.

Position Description:

Shermco Industries is looking for a passionate and dedicated Field Electrical Engineer to join our team for Brownfield projects at customer sites. This is a hands-on role perfect for those who thrive on problem-solving in the field, rather than behind a desk. Expect to travel more than 50% of the time, primarily focusing on projects in MS, AL, and GA, with possibilities in FL and TN. You will be directly involved in testing, troubleshooting, and designing electrical power delivery systems, including switchgear, relays, and motor controls. While working primarily within these states, you’ll be provided with a company vehicle, gas, and per diem allowances. Our clients span various industries, particularly in Pulp & Paper, Chemical, and Steel. In this position, you will need a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, safety, and technical excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conduct acceptance testing and commissioning of a wide range of electrical power delivery equipment.

Troubleshoot and diagnose failures in electrical systems, providing effective solutions.

Design and create control and protection system upgrades.

Draft and update electrical schematics for new systems and retrofit projects.

Effectively manage and prioritize workloads across multiple projects.

Prepare detailed and accurate reports for our customers.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems; recent graduates with relevant knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Willingness and ability to travel at least 50% of the time, working on-site with clients.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Capable of passing a drug test, background check, and DMV check.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring future employer sponsorship.

Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Proficient in managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Project management experience is a plus.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
