Are you an experienced marine welder ready to work on U.S. Navy vessels, Military Sealift Command ships, and commercial vessels? We’re looking for a highly skilled 2nd Shift Marine Welder to support structural repairs and modernization projects in one of the nation’s premier shipyards.

This role involves production welding in shipboard and shop environments and requires proficiency in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW processes. You’ll contribute to mission-critical maritime projects that directly support national defense and global trade.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform structural welding on marine vessels using SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW processes.

Interpret blueprints, ship specifications, and Navy/MSC/ABS standards.

Execute full-penetration welds with ceramic and metal backings in all positions.

Prepare work areas and materials for hot work in compliance with fire prevention protocols.

Inspect welds and provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) per project specifications.

Follow safety procedures per OSHA and company guidelines.

Operate welding equipment, power tools, and hand tools with care and efficiency.

Work in confined spaces, elevated platforms, and various marine environments.

Collaborate with welding helpers and fire watch personnel for job completion.

Qualifications & Experience:

Minimum 4 years of marine welding experience or related shipyard work.

Ability to comprehend technical instructions, ship drawings, and safety protocols.

Proficient in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW; able to certify in all welding positions.

Strong understanding of ship repair terminology and compartment identification.

Capable of basic math operations and use of both US customary and metric systems.

Familiarity with Lock-out Tag-out (LOTO) procedures and hot work certifications.

Must be physically able to perform job duties, including lifting, crawling, climbing, and working in confined or elevated areas.

Physical & Environmental Demands:

Stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl throughout shift.

Lift/push/pull 75 lbs occasionally; 20 lbs frequently.

Work indoors (ship interiors) and outdoors (extreme heat/cold/humidity).

Exposure to high noise levels, moving equipment, and low visibility conditions.

Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, safety harnesses, and steel-toe boots.

Work Schedule & Requirements:

1st & 2nd Shift – flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holiday shifts as needed.

Must possess or obtain DBIDS access for naval shipyard entry.
