About the Position
The Admissions Manager is responsible for recruiting, testing, admitting, and placing new students into the program. The Admissions Manager identifies creative ways to increase awareness and recruit students from untapped communities so that we continue to identify and serve students from diverse backgrounds across the city. The Admissions Manager also works closely with Baltimore City Public Schools to align our admissions process with the school system’s existing middle school/high school choice process. The Admissions Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and will serve as the central point of contact for Ingenuity’s admissions process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or four years of related professional work experience preferred.
Two to three years’ experience in K-12 or school recruiting or admissions, education administration in middle school or high school setting, or outreach/sales/marketing in related fields.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to organize, plan, & manage a robust strategy consisting of key recruiting messages & events.
Ability to engage district office, school leaders, community partners, and parents around the Ingenuity admissions process.
Experience managing timelines, coordinating events, public speaking, and parent/community engagement and outreach.
Experience managing relational databases to manage application materials, evaluate & analyze applicants, and measure success over the lifecycle of a student.
Ability to analyze past trends in admissions and enrollment to determine strategy and assess competition.
Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution).
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and/or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
1. Recruiting
Develop a robust recruiting strategy, including timelines and key dates.
Develop key recruiting messages, brochures and materials that attract a diverse, high ability cohort of students interested in STEM.
Organize, plan, & manage recruiting events in coordination with schools and the district (open Houses, school visits, choice fairs, information sessions, shadow days, etc.).
Manage student volunteers in recruitment activities.
Engage and encourage families to pursue STEM based education for their children.
Foster relationships with community partners to identify pools of students, particularly those in untapped communities.
2. Managing Applications
Create application timeline in coordination with Baltimore City’s Choice Office.
Prepare applications (for online and offline use).
Evaluate applications to determine which students to invite to Ingenuity test day.
Communicate with applicant families during the application process (letters, Q&A for website and incoming calls).
3. Testing
Managing the administration of Ingenuity’s admissions test, and other outside assessments as needed.
Manage and secure testing locations.
Recruit and manage proctors.
Oversee the administration of test day.
4. Placement/Acceptances
Work with Ingenuity staff to maintain and communicate an Admissions Policy.
Manage correspondence with accepted, rejected, and waitlist applicants (phone, mail, email).
Notify the district and school partners of students accepted into program
5. Enrollment
Measure success of the admission season (applicant trends from prior years).
Manage the enrollment and onboarding process with the district office and schools to ensure smooth transition of students and families into the program and their designated school.
Transition accepted students over to the Ingenuity program staff.

Additional Notes: Work is performed in the office, and considerable time is spent in schools across the city during the recruitment and testing phase. This position will require occasional evenings and weekends during the recruiting and testing season. Travel beyond one location in a day is reimbursed.

The mission of The Ingenuity Project is to prepare and launch the next diverse generation of nationally competitive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) leaders from Baltimore City Public Schools.
