Dr. Ramiah Jacks, an incoming (July 1st, 2025) Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at The Ohio State University, is seeking applications for a Researcher 1 position. The successful candidate will contribute to an active, interdisciplinary research project focused on examining the establishment and contribution of adipose tissue immune cells, specifically T cells, to obesity-associated adipose tissue inflammation, insulin resistance, and systemic immune dysfunction using mouse models and human tissue.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Generate and maintain mouse lines
· Perform metabolic phenotyping tests including glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance tests in mice
· Assist in flow cytometric, confocal microscopic, and sequencing experimentation and analysis of adipose tissue and adipose tissue immune cells
· Manages ordering of lab supplies and maintenance of laboratory activities
· Contribute to project reports, presentations, and publications
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Ramiah Jacks ().
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s required; master’s degree preferred in Physiology, Immunology, or other related field. Minimum years of relevant research experience required: 1-3 years.
· Mouse handing and metabolic phenotyping experience in mice is required. Experience with flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and RNA/single cell sequencing techniques are preferred, but not required.
