Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Remote SQL Developer to join our growing Data and Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining SQL databases, writing complex queries, optimizing database performance, and ensuring data integrity across our systems. You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and application developers to support their data needs and contribute to our overall data strategy. This is a fully remote position requiring a self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of relational database management systems.
Responsibilities:
Database Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement relational database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, and triggers using SQL Server or other relevant database systems.
Complex SQL Querying: Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data for reporting, analysis, and application integration purposes.
Performance Tuning and Optimization: Analyze query performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization techniques (e.g., indexing, query rewriting) to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing.
Data Integrity and Quality: Implement and maintain data integrity constraints, perform data quality checks, and develop processes to ensure accurate and reliable data.
Database Maintenance and Administration: Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, security management, and performance monitoring.
Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, application developers, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide effective SQL-based solutions.
ETL Process Development: Participate in the design and development of ETL processes to move and transform data between different systems and databases.
Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise documentation for database schemas, stored procedures, and other database objects.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, including data inconsistencies, performance problems, and query errors.
Staying Current: Keep abreast of the latest SQL Server features, database technologies, and best practices.
Adherence to Data Governance: Follow established data governance policies and procedures to ensure data security and compliance.
Qualifications:
Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience as a SQL Developer, with a strong focus on writing complex queries and optimizing database performance.
Database Proficiency: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS), preferably SQL Server. Experience with other databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
Advanced SQL Skills: Proven ability to write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
Performance Tuning Expertise: Experience in identifying and resolving SQL query performance issues and optimizing database performance.
ETL Concepts: Familiarity with ETL concepts and tools. Experience with specific ETL platforms (e.g., SSIS) is a plus.
Data Modeling Basics: Understanding of data modeling principles and techniques.
Strong Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data requirements and translate them into efficient SQL solutions.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of database development and query writing.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences in a remote setting.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a remote work environment.
Remote Work Capabilities: Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup suitable for remote work.
Healthcare Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with healthcare data, terminology, and common healthcare databases is a plus but not required.
