We are seeking a Thermal and Mechanical Design Engineer to develop innovative cooling and mechanical solutions for high-power electronic systems. You will work closely with electrical, packaging, hardware teams and JDM partners to ensure robust thermal management and mechanical integrity in products such as AI server systems, AI chips, and advanced IC packaging.
Responsibilities
Design and simulate thermal solutions (e.g., heat sinks, cold plates, TIMs) for electronics with high heat flux
Conduct thermal modeling using tools like ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM, or COMSOL
Develop mechanical structures for PCB enclosures, chassis, and rack-level systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
Define and validate mechanical tolerances, thermal interfaces, and mounting schemes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure DFM/DFA and compliance with environmental, mechanical, and safety standards.
Perform thermal and mechanical validation tests (shock, vibration, temperature cycling) and correlate them with simulation
Drive material selection for thermal conductivity, CTE matching, and manufacturability
Support thermal design for chiplets, interposers, HBM stacks, and other advanced packaging
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in thermal/mechanical design for electronics
Proficiency in thermal simulation and mechanical CAD tools
Strong understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and structural mechanics
Experience with thermal interface materials, cold plates, or liquid cooling solutions is a plus
Familiarity with industry standards (IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, MIL-STD) preferred
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with thermal measurement techniques (e.g., thermocouples, IR cameras)
Experience in electronics packaging, rack-level system design, or data center cooling
Knowledge of vibration/shock analysis for mission-critical systems
Compensation: The US base salary for this full-time position is $160,000 - $400,000 + equity + benefits
