Job Description
The ideal candidate would have the following qualities/skills: PAY RANGE: $60,000 - $70,000
Regular attendance and punctuality
Ability to prioritize, multitask assignments, and problem-solve
Be in the office during normal business hours to take client calls
Ensure that the requirements of the client are well defined, understood, and communicated to the laboratory staff through LIMS logins, program specifications, lab notes, and project kick-off meetings
Excellent communicator capable of leading a team.
Ability to motivate team members and train them when necessary
Manage Project Management team and Field team
Seek opportunities to increase productivity within the Project Management and Field teams
Ability to use (or learn to use) LIMS and other computer software
Ability to work under pressure
Organizational skills
The ideal candidate would possess:
Bachelor's degree in a Science or English field
Experience in an environmental laboratory
Supervisor/Management experience would be a plus
This position will work closely with Laboratory management, leading the Project Management and Field Technician Teams. They will be responsible for the following:
Prompt report turnaround to maintain client satisfaction
Assistance in training
Answering/directing client phone calls
Assisting with Chain of Custody review, reports, and invoicing as needed
Managing pre-logged work orders, the field schedule, and schedule changes
Scheduling of team members to maintain coverage daily
Essential Functions
Work with the Operations Manager to ensure prompt report turnaround to maintain client satisfaction
Supervise field services team, sample receiving team, and project managers to create a seamless throughput of data
Answer/direct client phone calls and concerns to the appropriate staff
Assist with review of chains of custody, reports, and invoicing as needed
Manage pre-logged work orders, the field schedule, and schedule changes
Performs other job-related duties as assignedSupervisor Responsibilities
Supervises, hires, trains, provides work direction, and problem-solving assistance for employees; also oversees the daily operations of client-facing staffRequired Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT – Bachelor’s degree in science- or English-related field
Experience in project management for an environmental laboratory
Supervisory experience is a plus
Familiarity with EPA, ASTM, SM, etc. methodologiesKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
General knowledge of chemistry and lab operations; ability to properly review data and reports for the various methods used
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Management skills; ability to lead a team and provide training and guidance to subordinates
Professional demeanor and appearance; ability to serve as a representative of the company; ability to work with clients regarding lab supplies and analysis
Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including MS Word and Excel
Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentationWork Environment

Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Duties frequently involve repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination. Testing priorities and timelines may serve as a source of emotional stress.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, lift, carry, balance, push, pull, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, grasp, and feel.
Use of applicable Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory when in the lab.Travel
