Purpose of Position
The CNC Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce high-quality precision components in accordance with engineering specifications and production schedules. This role ensures that all machining operations meet required quality standards, safety guidelines, and efficiency targets to support overall manufacturing objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, routers) based on job specifications, engineering drawings, and production work orders.
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD/CAM files to determine machine settings and cutting paths.
Monitor machine operations during production runs to ensure proper functioning and adherence to quality standards.
Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on CNC equipment to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool wear, material defects, or programming errors.
Collaborate with engineers and quality control to refine machining processes and suggest improvements.
Maintain accurate documentation of machine settings, production output, and inspection results.
Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
Essential Duties and Functions
Prepare and operate CNC machines in accordance with work instructions, ensuring proper alignment, tooling, and calibration for each production run.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine machining requirements and tolerances.
Modify G-code programs as needed to optimize machining performance and achieve desired outcomes.
Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools to ensure parts meet dimensional and quality standards.
Monitor tool wear and replace or adjust tools as necessary to maintain accuracy and extend tool life.
Identify and resolve equipment or programming issues promptly to minimize downtime and scrap.
Maintain accurate records of setups, tool changes, inspection results, and production logs.
Follow all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), and contribute to a safe working environment.
Conduct routine maintenance tasks and report any machine issues to maintenance or engineering teams.
Communicate with engineers, supervisors, and quality assurance personnel to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement of machining operations.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; completion of a technical training program or apprenticeship in CNC machining is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Working knowledge of G-code programming and CNC machine control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Haas, Siemens).
Ability to use precision measuring tools and interpret measurement data accurately.
Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a manufacturing environment with standing, bending, and reaching.
Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cleveland, OH is $23.00 to 28.75 The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
