Frontier Psychiatry aims to improve the emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being of rural communities by delivering scalable, timely, and evidence-based interventions in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Since its launch in March 2020, Frontier Psychiatry has expanded its telehealth services across Montana, Idaho, and Alaska. Our long-term goal is to be the solution to the mental health and addiction crisis in rural America, expanding our footprint by two states per year for the next six years.

As a Therapist (LCPC or LCSW) at Frontier Psychiatry, you will provide individual therapy sessions, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and case management. You will conduct mental health assessments, develop personalized treatment plans, and maintain thorough documentation of therapy sessions and interventions. This position requires providing therapy services to a diverse caseload, including individuals referred by the Department of Corrections (DOC). This role requires adherence to ethical standards, legal regulations, and licensing requirements while delivering compassionate and effective mental health care to patients.

Key Responsibilities

Mental Health Assessments:

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify clinical needs and inform diagnosis.

Develop patient-centered treatment interventions.

Individual Therapy:

Provide individual therapy to patients across the lifespan using evidence-based approaches. Emphasis interventions which are evidence-base,, time-limited whenever possible, and responsive to patients needs while maintaining a strategy for the course of treatment.

Treatment Planning:

Develop and maintain personalized treatment plans based on patients' specific mental health needs, therapeutic goals, and institutional guidelines.

Crisis Intervention:

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety plans to address acute mental health or behavioral crises in collaboration with care team members.

Psychoeducation:

Provide relevant, engaging education on topics such as stress management, communication, and coping skills.

Case Management:

Partner with medical and behavioral health teams to support coordinated, integrated care.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate and confidential records of each therapy session or intervention

Documentation of therapy work is timely, complete and meets compliance standards for billing encounters

Ethics and Legal Compliance:

Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to patient confidentiality, informed consent, and mandatory reporting of harm to self or others.

Participate in weekly supervision, rounding, or case consultation as directed by LCSW lead.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education & Certification:

Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling Psychology from an accredited institution.

Independently licensed as an LCSW or LCPC in Montana at the time of hire.

Willingness to obtain licensure in additional states as needed.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience providing mental health therapy, crisis intervention, and case management.

Proficiency in using remote communication platforms and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for therapy sessions and documentation.

Key Competencies:

Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Experience working effectively with diverse patient populations, including incarcerated individuals, adolescents, and those with co-occurring diagnoses.

Proficient in maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards.

Adaptability to change and willingness to collaborate on the development and implementation of workflows and programs that support clinic utilization and patient-centered care.

Physical and Mental Demands:

Prolonged periods of sitting and screen use for conducting virtual therapy sessions, documentation, and team collaboration

May involve repetitive tasks such as typing, data entry, and using computer peripherals like keyboards and mice.

May require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, or training sessions, which may involve sitting for extended periods during transit.

Ability to maintain focus and emotional resilience during therapy sessions and crisis interventions.

Flexibility to manage workload and adapt to changing patient needs.

Remote Requirements:
