As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a vital role within the automation engineering team, focusing on enhancing service project upgrades in our Liquid and Powder Technologies Division. Your expertise in designing, testing, and commissioning industrial process automation systems will drive the success of a variety of projects across diverse sectors including Food, Dairy, Beverage, Brewery, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and New Food business units.

Responsibilities:

Engage with sales teams to promote automation upgrades and digital service solutions.

Participate in project sales phases, including customer interactions, cost estimation, and proposal development.

Create and refine detailed Functional Descriptions (FDs) from broad process outlines.

Ensure programming meets specifications by collaborating with relevant product departments.

Work alongside the Automation Team to adhere to quality standards and integrate them into automation systems.

Lead software design initiatives, leveraging your knowledge of computer programs, systems, and networks.

Conduct rigorous testing of software applications through simulations on appropriate hardware platforms.

Oversee the commissioning of instrumentation, electrical, and control systems at client locations.

Document equipment operating characteristics to prepare detailed manuals.

Collaborate on the design and specification of electrical control panels and automation systems.

Integrate project specifications into electrical system designs and issue requisitions for necessary equipment.

Work with process engineers to ensure all automation design requirements meet client expectations.

Participate in quality assurance testing for electrical engineering outputs.

Supervise electricians during system wiring at both in-house and customer locations.

Contribute to the overall team success by assisting with various tasks and projects.

Maintain compliance with design standards while optimizing engineering outputs to meet budget constraints.

Document all automation-related meetings, discussions, and customer correspondence for organized record-keeping.

Assist with finalizing punch-list items during project commissioning.

Perform I/O checkout for installed systems at customer sites.

Facilitate operator training and maintenance support during project startup phases.

Ensure engineering and commissioning tasks are completed according to company standards and regulations.

Utilize GEA-defined tools and documentation throughout all project phases.

Provide essential information to project managers for effective planning and execution.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer needs and validate design applicability.

Offer technical support for troubleshooting and resolving equipment/system performance issues.

Assist in the creation and implementation of testing procedures and commissioning plans based on contract stipulations.

Support project managers in identifying and communicating changes in project scope, assisting in cost and schedule impacts.

Work with Procurement to prepare RFQ documents and evaluate vendor bids.

Foster collaboration with service organizations as needed.

Comply with GEA Environmental Health and Safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Assist with the development of O&M manuals and spare parts documentation.

Manage assigned automation and electrical engineers throughout project execution.

Monitor team performance to ensure high-quality outcomes and adherence to deadlines.

Continuously assess project strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Act as the Automation Lead on projects unless a different lead is designated.

Support project managers in formulating project plans, cost assessments, and automation execution strategies.

Deliver presentations on technical aspects or project progress to management or clients, as needed.

Develop schedules to meet project milestones timely.

Respond promptly to other assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Your Profile / Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and within teams.

Exceptional customer service aptitude.

Self-motivated and decisive, with a strong sense of business acumen.

Demonstrated sales and customer service experience.

A keen attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

Capacity to work independently on the majority of assigned responsibilities.

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Automation, or Instrumentation Engineering or a related field.

At least 5 years of relevant experience in similar roles.

Proficiency with Rockwell Automation hardware and software is essential.

Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
