The Opportunity:
Matrix MKTG is seeking a talented and passionate Graphic Designer with a strong focus on Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) to join our dynamic creative team. As our Graphic Designer specializing in Packaging & Brand Identity, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual narrative of our brands, creating impactful packaging solutions that capture consumer attention and drive brand loyalty. You will be a key player in bringing our products to life on the shelf and across various marketing touchpoints. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing company and make a tangible impact on our brand success. This role requires a hybrid work schedule with three days per week in our Atlanta office (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) to foster collaboration and team synergy.
Responsibilities:
Develop innovative and strategic packaging concepts and design solutions that consider shelf impact, consumer behavior, material constraints, and production feasibility. This includes structural considerations, artwork creation, and understanding of printing processes.
Design compelling visual solutions for a wide range of marketing materials, with a strong emphasis on extending brand identity through packaging, print collateral, digital assets, and experiential elements.
Produce high-quality visual assets, including illustrations, infographics, and potentially 3D mockups, specifically tailored for packaging and brand communication.
Ensure meticulous brand consistency and adherence to brand guidelines, with a deep understanding of how packaging design reinforces overall brand identity and equity.
Present design concepts, particularly packaging designs, to clients and internal teams, effectively communicating the strategic rationale behind design choices, including considerations for shelf presence, target demographics, and competitive analysis.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including copywriters, project managers, account managers, and potentially production and manufacturing partners.
Stay ahead of current CPG packaging trends, materials, sustainable design practices, and competitive landscape, proactively bringing fresh ideas and innovative solutions to the team.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting tight deadlines inherent in the fast-paced CPG industry.
Maintain a strong proficiency in design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and potentially 3D rendering or mockup software relevant to packaging design. Familiarity with print production processes and file preparation for packaging is essential.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design with a focus on packaging, Visual Communications with emphasis on branding and packaging, or a related field with a strong portfolio showcasing packaging design.
2-5 years of professional experience as a Graphic Designer, ideally within a creative agency specializing in CPG branding and packaging or an in-house design team for a CPG company.
A strong portfolio is essential, demonstrating a diverse range of packaging design projects from concept development through to final production. Portfolio should showcase understanding of shelf impact, brand differentiation through packaging, and knowledge of printing and material considerations.
Proven ability to generate innovative and original packaging design solutions that capture consumer attention and align with brand strategy.
Deep understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, color theory, and layout principles specifically as they apply to packaging design and on-shelf communication.
Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) with specific experience in creating print-ready packaging artwork, dielines, and understanding of file preparation for various printing processes. Familiarity with 3D rendering or mockup software for packaging visualization is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate the strategic rationale behind packaging design choices. Strong presentation skills.
Ability to identify and solve design challenges specific to packaging, such as structural considerations, material limitations, and ensuring brand consistency.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple packaging projects and deadlines effectively in a dynamic CPG environment.
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in preparing print-ready files and understanding packaging regulations.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and understand brand strategy and consumer insights within the CPG market.

Full-Time Position
Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000
