Job Description

Shipping & Receiving Supervisor The Shipping Supervisor coordinates all aspects of shipping and receiving and ensures all customer orders are shipped in a timely manner. This position is also responsible for leading the Shipping Department staff and functions. The Shipping Supervisor will report to and work closely with the Purchasing Manager to meet corporate goals for daily production and profitability. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

: • Operate lift equipment to load and unload trucks with long/bulky steel materials and components (up to 50 feet long)

. • Inspect incoming shipments to ensure orders are complete and meet specifications

. • Lead and oversee all packing and shipping functions and staff including training and performance management.

• Track and follow-up on components transported to outside vendors for supplemental fabrication (painters, galvanizers, etc.). Report delays and updates as appropriate.

• Coordinate with Production and Inventory Control to create and manage shipping schedules to meet customer needs and ensure profitability.

• Select and schedule freight firms to move materials domestically and internationally, meeting schedule and cost objectives.

• Prepare all freight documents for domestic and international shipments and forward completed documents as required.

• Process receivers and other shipping/receiving documents as required to support internal processes.

• Follow flow of materials from order through receipt, manufacturing and shipping and provide updates on discrepancies and delays.

• Work with partner groups to coordinate opportunities for shared shipments and reduce overall group costs.

• Ability to work overtime as needed

• Other duties as assigned Competitive Candidates must have:

• Minimum five years’ experience Shipping

• Minimum three years’ supervisory experience

• Minimum three years’ experience operating forklifts to move large, irregularly shaped loads

• Ability to multi-task and coordinate internal and external work activities in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment

• Strong attention to detail and quality

• Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of steel manufacturing preferred

• Proficient in Excel with the ability to quickly learn shipping and/or logistics management software and systems

• NetSuite experience a plus

• Demonstrated experience executing improvement projects on shop floor

• Clear and valid driver’s license

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

Additional preferred skills:

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus
