Carolina Civilworks is looking for a Preconstruction Engineer to lead and support our preconstruction services, ensuring smooth transitions from estimation to project execution. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, preparing bids, managing safety documentation, and leading value engineering efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the construction industry and demonstrate exceptional leadership and organizational skills.

Duties
Lead Carolina Civilworks’ preconstruction services to meet contract requirements.
Participate in preconstruction planning, including budgeting, scheduling, and defining roles with input from the Construction Team.
Estimate project budgets, prepare public and private bid submissions, and review project plans/specifications.
Support the management of the Corporate Safety Program, analyzing safety reporting and documentation.
Attend project meetings with Owners, Customers, and Engineers to ensure proper coordination and resolution of unresolved issues.
Maintain ongoing communication with customers, keeping them informed of preconstruction progress and technical challenges/solutions.
Develop and implement project working drawings to maximize productivity.
Identify and propose solutions to potential project impediments to ensure progress and maintain strong customer/architect relationships.
Lead value engineering efforts, including compiling and presenting ideas to clients.
Prepare or oversee the preparation of all project submittals for owners, architects, and engineers.
Develop preconstruction schedules and monitor progress.
Ensure seamless project turnover from preconstruction/estimating to operations through proper hand-off meetings and information transfer.
Manage project buy-out processes and formalize agreements with subcontractors and material vendors.
Qualifications
Education: Degree in Construction Management or a related field, or at least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry.
Solid understanding of construction industry practices, safety requirements, contract management, planning/scheduling, budgeting, building products, and technology.
Fluent in reading plans, specifications, and project documents.
Key Competencies: Leadership, initiative, communication, teamwork, results-oriented management, and coaching/mentoring skills.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and On-Screen Take-off.
