POSITION SUMMARY:
Now Hiring: Process Engineer – Injection Molding Expert
Are you passionate about driving innovation in manufacturing and improving processes from the ground up? Join GrassWorx, LLC as a Process Engineer and become the technical expert leading our Continuous Injection Molding (CIM) operations. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll play a key part in enhancing safety, quality, and efficiency while influencing the materials, equipment, and processes behind our products.
Budgetary Responsibility / Statistical Information:
Responsible for ensuring that processes and equipment consistently produce scheduled products at or below standard cost. This includes managing and minimizing yield and rate losses, with performance impacts estimated at approximately $1,000 per hour.
Essential Functions:
Develop and maintain raw material and packaging specifications; review and approve new vendors or specification changes as necessary.
Lead and manage projects to enhance equipment capacity and operational capabilities.
Collaborate with the engineering team to troubleshoot and resolve process and quality issues in daily operations.
Provide technical support to the maintenance team, including troubleshooting and the development of specifications for new equipment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date Process Instruction Sheets (PI Sheets), including current specifications and best practice operational guidelines.
Manage and update material Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system (Epicor), ensuring standard cost assumptions and models are current and accurate.
Oversee the integration of new products into standard operations using the New Product Release (NPR) process.
Conduct plant trials for new products, raw materials, or process changes, analyzing results for implementation.
Identify and implement improvements to materials, processes, and equipment, with a focus on enhancing safety, reducing costs, and improving quality.
Provide training and technical support to operators and mechanics on process-related topics to ensure operational excellence.
Offer off-shift support for process-related issues as needed to maintain production continuity.
Partner with R&D and Technology teams to support the development and implementation of new manufacturing capabilities.
Work Schedule:
Standard day shift schedule, totaling 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required based on operational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering or technology discipline.
Training Requirements:
Technical or trade school experience in manufacturing is considered an asset.
Work Experience Requirements:
Minimum of three (5) years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role.
Proficiency in plastics injection molding or closely related manufacturing processes is required.
Additional Qualifications:
Solid understanding of mechanical and thermal principles, both theoretical and practical
Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies
Demonstrated ability to operate and troubleshoot industrial equipment and tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong, hands-on proficiency with industrial equipment and control systems
Solid understanding of statistical process control (SPC) techniques
Quick learner with proven experience in maintenance and technical operations involving industrial machinery
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design and technical documentation
Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
Capable of independently troubleshooting issues, analyzing known factors, and developing logical, practical solutions
Intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Outlook, Excel)
Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset with a natural curiosity for understanding systems and processes
